Figure 2. A normal gaseous star may find itself in a bound orbit with a compact
neutron star or white dwarf will. Gas from the normal star overflows its
"Roche Lobe" and falls toward a neutron star. The gas may form an accretion
disk (shown in cross section), and the magnetic field may guide the gas toward
the pole of the compact star where X-rays are emitted.
