We have been able to book a block of rooms at popular bread and breakfast houses in the area for October 18 and 19 (see below).
Rates at standard chain hotels near MIT are post-astronomical. For example, the Marriott in Kendall Square wants $329/night, Kendall hotel (boutiquish) $326, Hilton@MIT has maxed out for any MIT discounts in October. The 'Head of the Charles' rowing races on Oct. 21-22 (http://www.hocr.org) is one of many pressures on hotel rates in the fall season.
Here are options currently available. If you want to choose the Irving House or John Jeffries House, please coordinate the reservation with us using the response form below.
1. The Irving House (and a 'sister'property The Harding House) is on the MIT side of Harvard Square.
From there, one can choose a 2 km walk to MIT or take the subway (Red Line) to MIT from Harvard Square (2 stops) or Central Square (1 stop).
The Irving House has the following average price structure for October 18 and 19 (the prices vary slightly each day): We are holding a block of rooms with samples in each class:
single queen + private bath $195 + 12.45% tax
single room with shared bath $165 + 12.45% tax
shared room for 2 students? $115 each + 12.45% tax
Choices here may be extendable.
2. The John Jeffries House (just across the river in Boston).
To get to MIT, one can walk across the Longfellow Bridge or take the Red Line (the hotel is at Charles/MGH; 1 stop to MIT).
October 18 and 19 are reserved for a few rooms. However, October 20 is sold out, so this guest house cannot extend the reservation beyond 2 days.
